IBPL SUPPORTS CLEAN ENERGY INITIATIVE OF VENTURE CENTER
International Biotech Park Limited (IBPL) at Pune supports clean energy
initiative of Venture Center under its Corporate Social Responsibility
activity.
ABOUT
THE PROJECT
The support shall include setting up a plug-and-play test rig for multiple clean/renewable power technology ideas and prototypes. The grant will also be used to set up a solar panel farm to reduce the incubator's carbon footprint.
The project shall be implemented by an incubatee company. Via this initiative, IBPL wishes to reiterate its commitment to science-based technology incubation and innovation as a vehicle for delivering social and economic impact for the Pune region.

PROJECT SITE : Roof top of 100 NCL Innovation Park
The solar farm came on-stream on 17th August 2017. It was inaugurated on 11th October 2017 by Prof. A.K. Nangia (Director, CSIR-NCL). An event on emerging technologies in clean energy sectors was organized on the day of inauguration of the solar farm in Venture Center.

IBPL is joint initiative of The Chatterjee Group (TCG) and MIDC. This 8 acre Park is dedicated to Biotechnology. This is the largest fully functional biotech park in India, which provides specialized space for R & D as well as for manufacturing purposes. Entrepreneurship Development
Center (Venture Center) - a CSIR initiative - is a Section 25 company hosted
by the National Chemical Laboratory, Pune. Venture Center strives to nucleate
and nurture technology and knowledge-based enterprises by leveraging the
scientific and engineering competencies of the institutions in the Pune
region in India. The Venture Center is a technology business incubator
approved by the Department of Science & Technology's National Science
& Technology Entrepreneurship Development Board (DST-NSTEDB). Venture
Center's focuses on technology enterprises offering products and services
exploiting scientific expertise in the areas of materials, chemicals and
biological sciences & engineering. Venture Center is today the largest

Gram Oorja experiments with various aspects of renewable energy
solutions in diverse parts of rural India, garnering, in the process, (a)
understanding and experience of renewable energy technologies like solar and
biogas, (b) experience of what would work and what would not, (c) a strong
grassroots network in the rural heartland of India and (d) recognition among
various government and non-government NGOs, universities in India and abroad
(MNRE, ORF, Prayas Energy Group, GIZ, Princeton, Berkeley, to name a few).
The core principle of all projects implemented or designed have been (a)
sustainability of the projects and (b) captive use of the energy by the

|
Prasad Kulkarni is the Co-founder
and the Head of Technology of Gram Oorja Solutions Private Limited. He has 10 years of
experience in rural energy technology. He has been involved in design and
implementation of 160+ community based energy projects like micro grids in
rural remote villages, solar water pumping and biogas cooking grid projects
for rural communities, solar PV systems for rural schools, hostels and
primary health centers. He has done Masters in Energy Systems from Pune
University and is a certified Energy Auditor. |

BALA PESALA
|
Bala is Senior Scientist at CSIR-CEERI, Chennai, Assistant Professor at Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR) and Coordinator, M.Tech-PhD program in Renewable Energy at AcSIR. He is B.Tech and M.Tech in Aerospace engineering (IIT-M), PhD (Electrical Engineering, University of California, Berkeley, USA). His research interests include Solar Energy, Terahertz Imaging, Integrated Optics and Photonics and Non-Invasive Diagnostics |
