The CII Biotechnology Resource Centre (CII-BRC) in Pune, Maharashtra, India is a resource center
serving biotechnology entrepreneurs, professionals, start-up companies and the biotechnology
industry at-large. The CII-BRC aims to make available information, services, resources and programs.
The CII-BRC is an initiative of the
Confederation of Indian Industry and
Government of
Maharashtra in partnership with
Venture Center.

Genesis and history
- The Biotechnology Resource Centre idea was first mooted in 2001 in the Biotechnology
Policy of Maharashtra state which was drafted under the chairmanship of Dr RA Mashelkar, Director General of the CSIR.
- The Confederation Of Indian Industry picked up on this recommendation in the Biotechnology
Policy of Maharashtra state and in partnership with the University of Pune initiated
discussions with the Government of Maharashtra for creating such a Biotechnology Resource Center.
- The Biotechnology Resource Center was announced on 14 November 2009 (Biotechnology Day in
Maharashtra State) on the occasion of the Biotech Summit 2009 in Pune.
- In 2010, the Venture Center stepped in as a partner in the activity and agreed
to host and co-locate the Biotechnology Resource Centre at its facilities in the NCL Innovation Park.
