Director, University of Cambridge Entrepreneurship Centre

Dr. Shailendra Vyakarnam
Dr. Shailendra Vyakarnam started his working career in small companies, leaving to complete his MBA and PhD at Cranfield School of Management, where he stayed on the faculty for ten years, before taking up a Chair in Enterprise at Nottingham Business School. In April 2001 he was appointed Teaching Programme Director at the University of Cambridge Entrepreneurship Centre and has been made a Senior Fellow of Darwin College, Cambridge. He is presently the Director of the Centre for Entrepreneurial Learning at the University of Cambridge and Visiting Professor at Nottingham Business School and University of Reading. He has published several books and journal articles and is on the editorial board of two academic journals.

Dr. Uday Phadke
Dr. Phadke graduated from Trinity College, Cambridge in 1976 with a degree in Engineering, after which he worked in the engineering and aerospace industries in the UK and USA. Following his PhD, he held a Research Fellowship at the University of Sussex, before joining Smith Associates in 1983, where he developed digital imaging technologies for television.He joined the Systems Group at PA Consulting, becoming Director of the Computing and Telecommunications business in Europe. He left PA in 1987 to become a founder-Director of the Generics Group, a Cambridge-based high-technology company that develops innovative products and services for a wide range of international companies. After leaving Generics in 1995, he managed a boutique media strategy business in London, before setting up Cartezia.

Arun Muthirulan
Arun started his career in the IT services industry, moving on from software development/team management roles to managing complex business critical IT development and implementation projects across multiple geographic locations. A computer engineer by background, most of Arun’s IT career was with Cognizant Technology Solutions in India, Canada and the UK, working with blue chip clients such as Ford Motor Co, Dun & Bradstreet Corporation and Aetna Life Insurance Company.In 2006, Arun graduated with an MBA degree from Judge Business School, University of Cambridge. Post-MBA, Arun has focused on the challenges of developing viable commercial concepts from nascent ideas/technologies and developing them to be market and investor ready.Arun is now based in Cambridge, UK.

Dr. V Premnath
Dr. V. Premnath holds a B.Tech. from the Indian Institute of Technology - Bombay and a Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA. He has also been a Chevening Technology Enterprise Fellow with the Centre for Scientific Enterprises, London Business School and Cambridge University, UK. He brings with him considerable experience in technology development and commercialization (two successfully commercialized families of products), working with start-up companies (in Cambridge-UK and India) and engaging with large corporations on research and consulting projects as project leader.

Kaushik Gala
Kaushik Gala brings over 11 years of technology and business experience to Venture Center. Prior to joining Venture Center as Business Development Manager in February 2009, he was co-founder and COO of Moneyoga, a capital market analytics and algorithmic trading venture - one of the earliest of its kind in India. Prior to founding Moneyoga, Kaushik was at IPVALUE Management (Bangalore), where he held responsibilities for mining, evaluation and commercialization of patent portfolios of clients such as Xerox, Palo Alto labs and British Telecom. Prior to IPVALUE, Kaushik spent several years at Motorola's Semiconductor Products Sector (now an independent company - Freescale Semiconductor) in Austin, Texas. Kaushik holds a BE degree from the College of Engineering - Pune, an MS Degree from the University of Minnesota - Minneapolis and an MBA from the University of Texas - Austin.

Dr.Rajendra Lagu
Dr. Rajendra Lagu most recently headed the Applications team in Computational Research Laboratories (a Tata group company) at Pune. Prior to joining the group in May 2006 he was the Project Director and member of the Governing Board of Society for Innovation & Entrepreneurship (SINE) -- the technology business incubator at IIT Bombay. At IIT Bombay, Dr Lagu championed the cause of technology entrepreneurship and made important contributions to the inception and successful operationalization of SINE, thus demonstrating the latent potential for business creation from scientific / academic institutions in India. He has a Ph.D from University of Florida, USA and a total experience of 22 years in organizations like IIT Bombay, Mastek Limited, K & P Infotech.

Anil Paranjape
Anil Paranjape is a technologist and now a venture capitalist. Originally from Pune, he has completed his BE in Electronics and Telecommunications from University of Pune. After finishing his graduation he earned his degree in Biomedical Engineering from University of Texas. In his working career of 20 years, he was associated with Intel Corporation in Oregon where he helped Intel to develop their flagship microprocessors starting with Pentium Pro. He has also worked on complex Electronic Design Automation (EDA) software tools and methodologies for Intel’s flagship prototype microprocessors including Pentium-4 and the recently introduced Core i7. In 2005, he completed his MBA from Wharton School of Business and then joined Intel Capital where he was responsible for developing new business opportunities. In 2009, he shifted back to India and has been mentoring entrepreneurs and startups to active participation in social impact ventures and tending his prior investments in hospitality business. These days Anil is helping companies with cleantech investments, business incubation and evangelizing sustainable ways of doing business

Hasit Seth
Hasit Seth brings over 12+ years of experience in the legal field covering the whole value-chain of patents from invention (at Eaton), drafting and litigation (US law firms Harness Dickey, F.Chau), licensing (at IPVALUE). Previously, he was a practicing counsel at the Bombay High Court. He has worked through law firms in US for clients like Siemens, IBM, Panasonic, TRW, Seiko-Epson, LG, Samsung and others. Until recently, he was the Asia Pacific IP counsel for Eaton, a large diversified manufacturing MNC.
